Glorious Gardens

Join us in our glorious gardening adventures. We will try to keep current in logging the progress of turning little seeds into beautiful, bountiful plants. Come along for the journey of trials, tribulations and success as we explore the wonders of homegrown produce!
In 2008, I was quite content with our 19′ x 40′ garden plot. Having come from the desert where it’s nearly impossible to grow anything that doesn’t have stickers or thorns ~ and not knowing the first thing when it came to gardening ~ I was absolutely amazed at the amount of produce we harvested from that little patch of earth.
In 2009, we have expanded a little. Okay, a lot. In addition to the 19′ x 40′ plot, we now have two 40′ x 150′ sections and another triangle plot creating over 7,000 sf space. All combined, we have nearly 20,000 square feet of gardening space!
Darling Husbie enjoys so much being able to get out there with his old tractors and implements from the ’40s and the ’50s ~ still breathing as much life as when they were new…and now, to make it even better, he has his new Tym tractor. We refer to the time he spends on his tractors as ‘seat time.’ [Be sure to check out the Seat Time page if you're interested in our tractor family members.] It gives him an opportunity to unwind a little and become right with this world again. And, for him, compared to the alfalfa field which is real work, the garden is just play time.
As for me and the nearly 20,000 sf of gardening space, Darling Husbie has found a sure-fire way to keep me out of trouble. It is an extraordinary amount of work, but I enjoy getting out there and digging in the dirt. I have learned so much about many of the plants, companion planting, square foot gardening ~ I’ve even become comfortable sharing the space with ‘my’ little toads and snakes. Add to that the fun and excitement I’ve had learning to can and store the harvest, and you’ve got yourself one happy country girl!
The Lord has truly blessed us with this opportunity! ♥
