Our Daily Bread: 20 ~ 26 June

Posted By on June 20, 2011

Somehow, the weeks keep managing to slip by me.  I mean, I know I went through them, because I am here.  But, wow.  It doesn’t help that summer has arrived and I no longer feel like anything but a Chicken Caesar Salad sounds good.  Well, maybe a traditional taco salad.  Or, perhaps a good antipasto salad.  You get the idea, yes?  I suppose I could have all of those things…just as long as Darling Husbie still has ‘real’ meat.  He’s definitely my meat and potatoes man!

Monday ~ Chicken Tacos; Red Beans and Corn Salad; Spanish Rice

Tuesday ~ Black-Eye Pea and Sausage Jambalaya; Tossed Salad

Wednesday ~ BBQ Spareribs; Corn on the Cob; Asparagus; Antipasto Salad

Thursday ~ Ham Steak; Scalloped Potatoes; Glazed Carrots; Deviled Eggs

Friday ~ Chicken Lasagna; Green Beans; Garlic Bread

Saturday ~ Beef Stroganoff; Mashed Potatoes; Sweet Peas; Dinner Rolls

Sunday ~ Chicken Enchilada Soup; Tossed Salad

We’ve been eating homemade strawberry pies and homemade ‘pumpkin’ pies using butternut squash for dessert around here.  In yesterday’s strawberry pie, the gelatin didn’t thicken like it was supposed to.  So, I have some of that wonderful sweet strawberry glaze that drained off saved in a bowl.  I think I will bake a French Vanilla cake in the bread machine ~ then I can slice it and serve it with strawberry glaze drizzled over it.  Oooooh, that sure sounds good to me!

What’s cookin’ at your homestead this week?!

Bon Appetit!

  1. OOOOO it all sounds yummy. French Vanilla in the bread machine? hummmm is that a mix from AZ? LOL

  2. Heehee! Yes, there is a certain French Vanilla mix in a bag from Arizona just itchin’ to be used up. I think I will slice it into three layers and put a layer of vanilla pudding in between. Then, I can drizzle some of that strawberry glaze over our pieces right before we eat it. Doesn’t that sound good?!
