Our Daily Bread: 30 May ~ 05 June

Posted By on May 30, 2011

Alright, who stole last week from us?!  There is no way it can be Monday all over again, can it??  Oy!  I’d like to say it’s a beautiful Memorial Day ~ it is for the right reasons ~ but, it’s certainly not a nice day for a BBQ…or any outdoor activities, for that matter.  We’ve got a high wind advisory for sustained winds of 45 mph with gusts near 60 mph.  Lovely, yes?  No.  The weather is warming up this week, though.  Instantly.  We were in the 60′s yesterday, and today it will be nearly 90 degrees.  There are several days forecast this week with those temperatures.

Darling Husbie is on leave this week.  Well, on paper he is.  He’s the only man I know who is on ‘leave’ but still goes into his office nearly every day ~ the Blackberry won’t stop ringing if he doesn’t, so I guess going in for a little while is the lesser of two evils in order to have a little bit of peace the remainder of the day.  He has some fun planned for this weekend ~ he and Little Big Brother are going to race at the 1/4-mile track again…this time, father vs son ~ so that will give him something to look forward to.  I anticipate a couple of gear heads thrashing in the shop this week!

So, with that in mind, I’ll have to see what I can come up with in my shop in order to keep the boys happy ~ while keepin’ Mama happy, too!

Monday ~ Chicken Salad on Croissants; Potato Wedges; Sweet Corn; Pickled Okra

Tuesday ~ Beef & Broccoli Stir Fry; Jasmine Rice

Wednesday ~ Pork Steaks; Homemade Potato Salad; Ranch Beans; Dinner Rolls

Thursday ~ Sausage Creole; Cornbread

Friday ~ Chicken Enchiladas; Spanish Rice; Tossed Salad

Saturday ~ Race Night Buffet (wherever the gang decides to meet up after the racin’)

Sunday ~ Chicken & Dumplings

Here’s to hoping I can stick with the plan!

Bon Appetit!

  1. Just popping in to say HI! Its been far too long since I’ve touched base with you, but I have a tendency to withdraw into myself when times get tough. Fortunately, everything is getting better, not perfect, but heading in the right direction. You may have to cave eventually and get a FB account :) I have a few pics of my monsters on there and Val has a TON of pics of her home away from home in NC along with many pics of Miss Arielle, who managed (not to much surprise) graduate at the top of her class. I’ve probably spilled too much personal information for a public blog, but we’re among friends here right?

Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful week and I’ll try to pop back in more frequently!

    Love to you and yours,

    Staci

  2. Dearest Staci! My heart always smiles so big when I hear from you! I edited a portion of your comment in order to ‘protect’ your personal information a little better ~ we are among friends here, but you never know whose eyes can pry, right? I have been praying, and will continue to, for you and your family, Dear One. I am beyond delighted to hear that things are getting better. Us Army wives didn’t go through what we did in 2005 to just throw it all away, you know?!

Me and Facebook? Ain’t gonna happen, Girl. Just ain’t gonna happen. So, unless some of the other girls come visit me here like you do, or start a blog I can visit, I’m going to have to rely on you to fill me in! I do miss our little family crew, but I will never let go of the bond we all created.

It appears we are gearing up for some new adventures here, too. Stay tuned ~ I’ll start making announcements as soon as things become ‘official.’

Wishing you abundant blessings. Enjoy your weekend!

    Much love,
    ~ J
