Our Daily Bread: 25 April ~ 05 May
Posted By FarmerJ on April 25, 2011
Boring and mundane? Or, trusty tried and true? That is the question. Either way, the answer is meals that I know we like. I’ve been feeling like my menus were stuck in a rut, so I was venturing out a little bit and trying some new recipes to mix things up a little around here.
The result was downright catastrophic. Not just once, either. Twice. At least. We were able to make our way around a couple of the dishes, being entirely grateful we had food to eat. But, there were two meals we just couldn’t do it. No way, no how. Well, I take that back. I couldn’t eat two of them ~ Darling Husbie somehow miraculously stomached the Orange Chicken. Gack!
So, I’m back to my main menu plan. With 35 different main-dish meals, it’s not like we eat the same thing week in and week out…just every fifth week in and fifth week out. And, I have utter freedom when it comes to the side dishes [as if I don't have utter freedom with my entire menu, when it comes down to it!], so I can mix it up as the fresh produce comes around.
It pains me greatly to waste food, so I am going to try to ‘recycle’ the chicken pieces from the Orange Chicken and use them in tonight’s dinner. I figure my beloved green chilies never let me down!
Monday ~ Green Chile Chicken and Rice; Sweet Corn; Tossed Salad
Tuesday ~ Beef and Broccoli; Jasmine Rice; Homemade Egg Rolls
Wednesday ~ Ham Pot Pie
Thursday ~ Amish Meatloaf; Roasted Sweet Potatoes; Peas; Croissants
Friday ~ Chicken Bacon Wraps; Mashed Potatoes; Roasted Asparagus
Saturday ~ Homemade Pizza; Tossed Salad
Sunday ~ Chicken and Dumplings; Tossed Salad
Desserts will consist of a pie or two ~ likely a banana creme and an apple. Perhaps some kind of donuts or cookies, too. I’ve got some kind of craving for chocolate donuts. Oy!
Bon Appetit! ♥

How could YOU possibly say that your menus are boring or mundane? They are definitely of this world and earth…after all…you are Farmer J, right? Best be prepared. Uncle Dudley and Virginia are leaving at 7:00 in the morning…heading for Wyoming for a couple of days…spend some time with your Brother and Molly…then head East! I seem to be nervous today and a whole lot sad…need to be more independent, you think? So keep up the GOOD cooking…cause you will have eaters! I love you!
I think every cook gets tired of their cooking once in awhile. Heehee! We’re prepared for company ~ at least in the menu department! I don’t think Uncle Dudley realizes what he’s getting himself into! The entire experience should make for some interesting blog entries, though, yes? Be sure to stay tuned for those!
Love you back!
Thanks for correcting my typos, as usual! Still can’t see right from left with words sometimes! You are such a WONDER! If you have time…ha,ha…go to my blog…We will stay tuned to each other!!!
I have yet to see any pie.
Now, Lovie, that’s not entirely true ~ you ate Ham Pot Pie for dinner last night.
