Ten Things I Miss About Arizona

Posted By on February 8, 2011

When people find out I’m a transplant from Arizona, they all seem to ask “Do you miss it?”  Well, yeah.  I don’t think you can call somewhere ‘home’ for 28 years and not miss at least a few things.  So, I thought I’d share a few of those things with you ~ not in any particular order…although the first one is the one I tend to complain about the most!  I really do complain about it, too.  Just ask Darling Husbie, if you don’t believe me.  Or, my buddy who calls me every week to tell me what deals Fry’s is having.  She’ll tell you.

Okay, here goes ~

1.  Double coupons.  Let alone triple coupons.  I can’t even stand to think about all the deals I’ve lost with the “All Coupons $1″!  Seriously.  Not being able to shop in stores that double coupons really took some getting used to.

In the 'desert' east of Florence.

2.  Spontaneous picnics.  Hotdogs, buns, potato chips and Gatorade.  The perfect Arizona picnic.

On the 'back road' to Crown King.

3.  Four-wheeling.  Wide open public land.  Places to just ‘get away.’  Refer back to #2.

Grayback Mountain Summit

4.  Geocaching.  Refer back to #3, then back to #2.  Okay, okay.  I’ll quit.

5.  The glorious hikes associated with geocaching.

6.  The muscles I had in my legs as a result of the hikes associated with geocaching.

Summer evening thunderstorm in the Galiuro Mountains.

7.  Those desert sunsets.  They’re pretty hard to beat.

The road to home...eventually...hopefully.

8.  Access to my Rancho Perdido.  At least easier access ~ 330 miles as opposed to 1,100 miles.

...from my picture window in my future cabin.

9.  The views at my Rancho Perdido.

10.  Sigh. I really miss my Rancho Perdido.  Yes, I know it’s in New Mexico.  But, still.

Sunshine?

11.  I know I said ‘ten things’ I miss about Arizona, but I just can’t leave this one out.  Warm winters!

…and most importantly ~ we miss all of our dear friends!  I know I can speak for Husbie, too, on that one.

  1. Hey Miss J. Just to let you know I am posting a link back to your blog regarding the pineapple zuchinni bread recipe. I tried it and it is yummy. I must remember to try the zuchinni pineapple recipe this year as well.

  2. That’s great, Gill! I’m so happy you and your hubby enjoyed the bread ~ it is terrific, isn’t it?! I’m so glad my friend, V-dub shared that with me. I’ll have to beg her for some more of her recipes!

Thanks for visiting, too. I always enjoy seeing you.

  3. then come home Darlin Buddie. I miss you too

  4. I know, Buddy. We’re trying to listen patiently for God’s will.

As a planner, it’s hard to be still. I think He’s having me work on my patience some more…

  5. It is tough when your missing “Home”…..Your a blessing J wherever the Lord has you for however long the season ~
    Hugs, Ella

  6. Thank you, Sweet Ella. I am learning ~ day by day ~ that it is the Lord who places us where He wants us to be in order to His work through us. I still often times trip over my own feet and get caught in the snares of planning, but it sure gets easier to walk when I focus on doing things through Him, you know?

Thank you for taking the time to visit, Ella. You always brighten and bless my day.

    Hugs and love you you.
