Our Daily Bread: 21 ~ 27 February

Posted By on February 22, 2011

I’m  not sure why I even made a menu plan last week ~ unless my plan was to fail.  Out of seven meals planned, I think I only made two of them.  It’s all sort of a blur, but I think last week was something one would envision while defining ‘fiasco.’  By the looks of it, this week hasn’t started much better.  I am already a day behind schedule around here.

But, onward and upward, right?!  Let’s see if I can’t do a little better this week.

Monday ~ Oven Fried Chicken; Baked Potato; Sweet Peas; Biscuits and Gravy

Tuesday ~ Bean and Rice Enchiladas

Wednesday ~ Spaghetti with Very Meaty Sauce; Green Beans; Garlic Bread

Thursday ~ Chicken Pot Pie

Friday ~ Ham and Beans; Glazed Carrots; California Cornbread

Saturday ~ Bierock; Sauteed Squash; Green Beans

Sunday ~ Loaded Baked Potato Soup; Butter Croissants

You know since I failed miserably with the meal menu, I absolutely fell flat on my face when it came to desserts.  Needless to say, I am still on the hunt for some delicious tried and true recipes calling for pumpkin ~ I have both pumpkin and Boston Morrow squash to use up.

Oh!  We had a Chili Cook-Off at the flight facility last week.  Darling Husbie insisted I enter a batch.  I didn’t have my normal chili ingredients on hand, so I muddled through concocting something that bore a slight resemblance ~ I won 3rd Place!  Squeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Bon Appetit!

  1. What! Pray tell? is Bierock? It sounds wonderful, if only I knew what it was…you make me hungry with the meal planning you come up with!

Ok…better go clean some mirrors in this domain before I can’t see myself anymore…oh! Maybe I will leave them as is…

    I love you!!!

  2. You know what Bierock is, Mom! You just don’t recognize the spelling ~ we would probably spell it Burrock, or something similar. You used to make it for us, and Dad would drench his in ketchup.

I’ve never made it before, but I sure have been craving it!

    Lots of love…

  3. YEAH!!!!! good for you buddie.

  4. Squeeeeeeeee! Thank you, Buddy. Winning 3rd place completely took me by surprise. I was actually embarrassed to even enter anything, as I knew it wasn’t ‘my’ chili, you know? I didn’t have anything on hand to make it like I normally do. Not even a bell pepper! It was fun.
