That 70′s Table…Do-Over

Posted By on January 7, 2011

Hello, my name is Farmer J, and I’m addicted ~ to Rust-Oleum Hammered paint…particularly Dark Bronze.  Seriously.  Not only is it a great choice because of its distinctive ability to hide flaws and imperfections, which is very important since I couldn’t spray paint to save my life, but it definitely has its place here around the ol’ barn house.  So far, I’ve used it on everything from curtain rods, to picture frames, to air return vents.  The more I use it, the more I become addicted to it.

Mama, don’t you know that shiny fake brass look went out with the 70′s?

My latest victim was this pathetically neglected little glass-top table that lives on the stair landing ~ in the barn house, you come up the stairs to this little landing, turn and go up a few more steps.  I always try to keep it decorated with seasonal items, but in the photo above, you see that summer happened and if it didn’t have to do with dirt and vegetation, it didn’t get a millisecond of attention.

I’ve had this little table for…well…I don’t even know how long.  I probably had it stashed in a corner in my room as a teenager, or Mom had it stuck somewhere and I snatched it on my way out into the big world on my own.  At any rate, I know I’ve had it longer than I’ve had Big Little Brother ~ and he’s turning 19 years old next week!

In a grave necessity to try to bring some kind of decor style to the barn house other than Hillbilly Hodge Podge, I decided to give the little glass table a makeover…and feed my addiction.  Yes!  Rust-Oleum Hammered Dark Bronze.  Ahhhhh.  Actually, I must confess.  I had Darling Husbie paint the little glass table for me.  I can’t spray paint the side of a barn, let alone something with funky round twists and curves.  So, yeah.  But, you can rest assured, I was right there with him as my paint was going on ~ because Rust-Oleum Hammered Dark Bronze’s got it goin’ on!

Now, doesn’t that little glass table look so much more loved?  Like perhaps it advanced 40 years in the realm of decor?  Adding to the love is that little star-shaped doily knitted by my Grandma K years and years ago.  Never mind that this picture was obviously taken back in October, and I had it decorated for harvest season, yet I’m just now getting around to sharing it with you.

I’ve got a few more projects in mind for my Rust-Oleum Hammered Dark Bronze.  I just have to wait for the weather to warm a little so I can paint outside ~ or figure out how to paint with a little less over spray.  Maybe that’s the ticket, yes?

  2. Thank you! Do you remember the little table now? That’s where Santa Claus sat in December. Now, for January, there is the cutest little Snowgirl sitting there. She’s kind of lonely, though. I have to see if I can’t spruce it up a little more. Any suggestions? Heehee!
