He’s Growing Up…and Goofy
Posted By FarmerJ on January 18, 2011
Little Big Brother had a birthday Saturday. He turned 19 years old ~ his last year as a teenager. As every mother probably does, I’m sitting here looking back and wondering how the years could have possibly gone by so quickly.
I promised myself I would not get all teary-eyed and emotional ~ at least here in front of you ~ because my baby is growing up.
Little Big Brother has always been a fun-loving kid. Even when he was little, he would seek out ways to make you laugh. Sometimes, he would try to be serious, and that in itself in a small child can prove to be comical. “I’m so fusstrated!”, he’d say.
Is it possible to be a class clown without ever really getting into trouble with the teachers? Well, if anyone has ever had a knack for making people like him, it’s this kid…teachers included.
This child has never lacked in the area of self confidence, either. By no means is he conceited! He’s just really sure of himself. So, there were plenty of times I would try to give him a piece of motherly advice and the given response was, “I know, Mom.” For example, while driving to school one winter morning under a learner’s permit, I ~ as a passenger and already licensed driver, mind you ~ say to the boy, “Now, you know it is always very icy and slick as you turn into your school parking lot. You’ve seen several cars biff that cement pole already. You need to slow way down before you get to the turn.” One guess what the boy said? Yep. “I know, Mom.” A few seconds elapse, and the next words out of my mouth are “I thought you knew?!” His response after getting out to inspect the dented fender? “I just skinned it a little.” I can guarantee you I wasn’t laughing at that moment ~ but looking back, that was just another one of those moments where you just have to giggle and say yes, you sure did, son. You skinned it, alright.
And, now there’s a girl in the picture! Gasp! They’ve been dating for a year now. She’s a very sweet girl, and she’s completely head over heels for this boy. I keep telling her that her ‘boy’ is a goofball. She says she knows. Actually, they both are very silly kids, so I think they’re perfect for each other. I’ve watched them interact, and I must say, I am pleased with the way I see Little Big Brother treating her. I give all the credit to Darling Husbie for that ~ he’s been a perfect role model.
So, yeah. The girl definitely knows her boy is a goofball. This is what happens when you make faces at your girlfriend over Skype. She captures the shot and then posts it on her Facebook page. And, because he’s that fun-loving self confident kid, he’s quite alright with it!
That’s our goofball…and we love him. ♥

A very handsome goofball and gorgeous young lady.
Hug the boy for me… I have 2 and the path we took was similar… except for the skinned fender!
hugs

We have two sons, too, Mel. Our youngest is fixin’ to turn 18 on us this Friday. It just doesn’t seem possible!
Thanks for visiting, Dear One.
Happy Belated Birthday My Second Son. I hope you had a great 19th birthday?
I love that smile

That smile. It’ll getcha every time, won’t it? Heehee! Can’t you just hear him now? Mrs. S_______… I miss those days, Buddy!
Don’t forget the hand gestures when he says, “Mrs. S_____.”
Ya know the smile does change when he sees “The Party Bowl” of goodies coming his way. hahahaha
Oh, I know how the smile changes ~ it looks something like the one in that last photo. Heehee! He’s such a goof!
