Our Daily Bread: 08 ~ 14 November
Posted By FarmerJ on November 8, 2010
Let’s see how well I can carry out the plan this week, as I’m sure Darling Husbie will hold my feet to the fire! We seem to have a slight disagreement variation of opinion as to whether or not I actually prepare for him the items I list on the menu…
Monday ~ Coq au Vin Chicken; Sweet Potato Fries; Tossed Salad; Cheesy Biscuits
Tuesday ~ Sloppy Joes; Glazed Carrots; Peas; Wheat Buns
Wednesday ~ Baked Pork Chops; Dirty Rice; Green Beans; Homemade Bread & Butter
Thursday ~ Carne Guisada; Spanish Rice; Tossed Salad; Flour Tortillas
Friday ~ Three Cheese Chicken Bake; Tossed Salad; Garlic Bread
Saturday ~Pancakes; Bacon; Mandarin Orange Slices
Sunday ~ White Bean and Ham Soup; Cornbread
For dessert? Either Pumpkin Muffins or Pumpkin Bread ~ I’m still undecided, but either one will be made with Boston Morrow Squash instead of pumpkin. I’ll make some flavor or another of cake. And…I’m craving popcorn balls. We still have some popcorn grown right here on the Farmstead, so that will make them extra fun to eat!
How’s that look for a plan, Lovie? heehee! ♥

Day One into the menu, and already a variation. Ever-so-slightly, though, and Darling Husbie didn’t seem to mind. Instead of Sweet Potato Fries, we had Garlic Mashed Potatoes ~ also made with potatoes from the garden…so he still got his own fresh root!
The Coq au Vin Chicken was a success. Husbie declared it a keeper, so now we have something new to add. Yay!
Monday… check
Tuesday… check
Wednesday…. check.
Only two more days to go honey, and you are in the clear!
Well, yeah ~ but you’re cutting me a little slack, too. I forgot your green beans last night. *blushing*
Houston, “sputter’ we have a “pop fiz” problem. What was that goop again on Friday? I saw no sign of chicken, cheese, soup and especially no garlic bread. And no green chile in the goop? You know that green chile is appropriate in any form of goop. (Disclaimer to all of Sweet Pea’s dedicated readers: “Goop” is generically used in our household to describe any casserole-like menu item, leftover combination, oven scrapings or burnt offerings. I actually prefer goop on most occasions as long as it has green chile in it. So goop is a good term, not a derogatory one. But no green chile?!?) This is about truth in menu posting, accountability food preparation, carrot and a (bread) stick husband manipulation. That is why I say that truth must be maintained in menu planning! Or, at the very least, put green chile in the goop and I won’t say anything.
Uhhhhh…*sputter*…ummmm…*pop fiz*…Roger that, Lovie.
*note to self: keep Husbie quiet with green chile*
