Our Daily Bread: 13 ~ 18 September
Posted By FarmerJ on September 13, 2010
It’s time to get back to menu planning. It seems like such a trivial thing, but it really does ease things when it comes to plotting out the daily tasks. I think all of our schedules remain at the normal mildly chaotic state this week, so I’ll try to plan meals that ‘fit’ with what’s happening.
Monday ~ Upside Down Supreme Pizza; Tossed Salad
Tuesday ~ Creamy Beef Noodle; Scallop Squash; Corn, Tomato & Cucumber Salad
Wednesday ~ Red Beans and Rice; Cornbread
Thursday ~ Crockpot Brown Sugar Chicken; Stir Fry Veggies; Jasmine Rice
Friday ~ Ham Steak; Potatoes Au Gratin; Green and Wax Beans; Cheesy Garlic Biscuits
Saturday ~ Egg, Cheese & Sausage McMuffins; Hashbrowns; Cantaloupe
Sunday ~ Albandigas Soup; Tortillas
I was mentally thinking about my grocery list as I was preparing this menu. I am completely stoked that the only produce I will need to purchase is lettuce and carrots. All of the onions, bell peppers, hot peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, corn, potatoes, green and wax beans, sugar snap peas, broccoli, squash and cantaloupe will be provided to us compliments of the Prairie Farmstead Food Plot. Praise God!
For dessert, I think I will bake a Sweet Potato Pie. I still have about two cups of sweet potato puree in the refrigerator that needs to be used up. The sweet potato puree is compliments of last year’s garden. I’m working on making some room in the freezer for this year’s stuff ~ and Darling Husbie loves him some pie. Big Little Brother does, too. Well, he takes after his mama and just loves anything sweet.
I also have a Key Lime Cake recipe I’d like to try. I’ve actually planned to make it a couple of times already, but there seems to be a gremlin living in the fridge who keeps eating all the Key Lime yogurt before I can bake the cake. I’m going to have to hide the yogurt containers in the vegetable crisper, or something!
I’ve been thinking about Grandma’s Magic Chocolate Chip Cookies again, too. But, there’s a recipe for a chewy coconut cookie I saw the other day that looks delish. Oy! I can see the scale tilting already!
Watch’ya got cookin’ in your homestead? ♥

Hi, how are you?
I have a photo on my blog of the one boston marrow squash that I managed to grow. No idea though what I am going to do with it???? So any suggestions greatly appreciated!
Must get back into menu planning next week when dh gets back to work,
