Our Daily Bread: 08 ~ 14 March

Posted By on March 8, 2010

Once again, I did pretty well at keeping with last week’s menu.  Instead of Beef Stir Fry, though, I made Pork Fried Rice [so I still have that steak in the freezer from two weeks ago!].  We had a lot of country style pork loin chops left over from Wednesday night, so Pork Fried Rice sounded like a good way to use those up ~ it was well received.

Oh, I didn’t make the Strawberry Cake, either.  I baked Grandma’s Magic Chocolate Chip Cookies instead ~ and we definitely didn’t need both!  I think I’ll make the cake this week, though.  Strawberries are sounding really good right now.

Monday ~ C.O.R.N. equates to Clean Out Refrigerator Night… leftover Beef Stew; Chicken Quesadilla Casserole; Potato Salad

Tuesday ~ Shepard’s Pie; Cheesy Garlic Drop Biscuits

Wednesday ~ Grilled Bratwurst; Sweet Corn; Sauteed Zucchini and Onions; Homemade Rolls

Thursday ~ Sausage; Biscuits and Gravy; Eggs; Orange Slices

Friday ~ Chicken Alfredo; Steamed Broccoli ; Homemade Garlic Bread Sticks

Saturday ~ Cheeseburgers; Homemade Wheat Buns; Green Beans; Cream-Style Sweet Corn

Sunday ~ Okra Stew; Tossed Salad; Buttermilk Biscuits

We have a lot of bulk pork sausage in the freezer.  I’m in desperate need of recipes to use it up.  It seems like I use the same ol’ ones ~ I need to add some flare!  Do you have any favorite recipes you could share?

  1. Sometimes I make pork sausage into patties and then cook/freeze them so they’re around when spare biscuits need something to do at breakfast time.

Pizza topping? Meat for spaghetti or lasagna? Filling in omelets?

I’m kind of run down – those are just off the top of my head. More soon, if my brain starts working better.

  2. What about dirty rice?

  3. Thanks, Ladies! The pre-made sausage patties is a good idea. That would be convenient for the 18-year old to grab and heat, too.

I’d forgotten all about Dirty Rice! Darling Husbie likes it, too, especially when I jazz it up a little with a can of green chiles. In our home, green chile is to food what duct tape and WD-40 is to mechanical devices. Heehee!
