We Hope Your Christmas Was Merry!

Hello! It’s me, Abigail. We hope your Christmas was as blessed as ours here on the Farmstead. We had a beautiful, quiet and very white Christmas Day ~ in fact, we’ve been having blizzard conditions since Wednesday night which followed freezing rain all that day. We’ve been getting record-breaking amounts of snow, and the transportation department is making no attempts to clear the roadways until after the storm passes. With the 40 – 45 mph wind gusts, their efforts were futile. So needless to say, we haven’t left the Farmstead since Tuesday. Instead, we’ve been reflecting on our many blessings as our entire little family is able to be together this holiday season.
We were all showered with more than abundant gifts. Here, you can see me sporting my new Christmas dress my Aunt D gave me. [Thank you, Aunt D! It's lovely!] I’m sitting in front of the tree guarding the rest of the presents, as Aunt D said I was the only spoiled one who was allowed to open their gift early. Peanut and the Mon-kay just had to wait until Christmas morning ~ something in their packages sure smells good, though!

I’m very much a girlie-girl in my dress, but I can still chase that Mon-kay away in a flash. And as for Peanie, well, she’s just old and crotchety. She turns the other way if I just give a little growl because she doesn’t have the patience to deal with me.

As far as keeping Daddy and the boys away from their prizes, all I had to do was distract them with a little playful cuteness. They would have had to bypass me in order to get to the tree, and…well… that just didn’t happen.
Now Mama, on the other hand, she said she knew my ploys and agreed to go along with letting me think I was the Queen of Christmas at the Farmstead. Plus, she felt bad for laughing at me when I ran full speed into the bedroom door having had to chase that darned Mon-kay with my hooded coat on. I’d just come in from doing ‘my business’ in blizzard conditions outdoors, and while I was out there, that Mon-kay tried to make a move for the tree. I had to set her straight right away and didn’t have time to take my coat off. Hmpf!

Well, anyway. It was Christmas Eve and it was getting late. Most of the creatures had quit stirring, so Mama said she would look after the tree so I could nestle in for a little nap.

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

that is just so cute…….

Thanks, Gill. Abigail is her Daddy’s little girl, for sure. She has quite the personality, to say the least!
I am reading your archives and love this post. Abigail is just so cute, and she looks like she has some sass in her.
Heehee! Yes, Kristy. Little Miss Abigail definitely has some sass in her! A lot of sass. But, she’s as cute as a button and is an absolute snuggle-love bug, so she makes up for it.
I have 2 very spoiled fur baby Pekingese’s. I know all about sass. I also know about how when they are comfy, and Mama wants to get comfy, they growl (in a nice way) to let me know that they are comfy and why are you bothering me Mama?
