It’s Here! It’s Here!

Squeeeeee! I could not believe my eyes when I opened the mailbox. Under all those ‘other’ catalogs ~ you know, Northern Tool, Harbor Freight, Oriental Trading ~ was a big, colorful, over-sized catalog. What could it be?!
Yes! It was our 2010 Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds catalog! It’s just gorgeous, and I foresee many, many hours spent painstakingly picking just the right seeds to plant in the Prairie Farmstead Garden Plot. What a treat!
You can order your catalog here, but you’d better hurry. I waited too long to request last year’s catalog and didn’t get one because they had run out. I’d read others’ comments about how wonderful Baker Creek’s catalogs are, and now I can attest to it firsthand!
And, it’s never too early to begin planning your garden. Darling Husbie and I have already discussed several tactics we’re going to do differently this year ~ both in planting strategy and what we’re actually going to plant. It should prove to be another exciting season!

Beautiful, isn’t it? I remember when they used to send out seed catalogs in January…now they come in December…pretty soon we’ll be getting them at harvest! Baker Creek has an amazing array of seeds from just about everywhere. What are you going to grow new this season, Farmer J?
(I’m thinking about some marrow squash, if I have room!)
Oh, it’s just gorgeous, Laura! I’m just tickled and am so anxious to be able to peruse the pages. Cheese and crackers, I have no idea what new things we’ll be giving a try this season! There’s just so many choices. But, I do know we will be planting more beans and peas for drying ~ so I guess some of those will be new. I was also eyeballing some Baby Carrots, but haven’t decided whether they will make it to the ‘shopping cart’ or not. Heehee!
Perhaps you can create a little plot off to the side of your regular garden for the Boston Marrow. They do like their space, and they’re not afraid to overpower their neighbors!
