Monopoly Money Madness: September
Posted By FarmerJ on October 2, 2009

Wow! The year is officially three-quarters over. It’s a good time to analyze my spending of both my Darling Husbie’s hard-earned greenbacks and my Monopoly money. I’ve come to the realization that accumulating and strategizing the spending of Monopoly takes time and effort. Time is something I ran short of quite frequently this summer with the garden plot Husbie prepared for me needing constant tending to. But, is it worth the effort? Absolutely!
What I’ve learned is that the winter months will be my most successful months in spending Monopoly money. I will have more time to put forth the effort of scouring the store ads in search of those loss leaders I’m able to match Monopoly money to. During the summer months, my time and effort will be put forth in planting, caring for and harvesting the bounties of our garden ~ which should result in less need to purchase certain items in the winter…which, in turn, makes me a better steward of Husbie’s hard-earned greenbacks. Win, win!
While my September Monopoly money spending pales in comparison to that in February, I am still pleased in that there are three months left in the year and my total Monopoly money spent will well exceed $1,000! That’s just straight face-value savings, too, as the great State of Nebraska doesn’t believe in doubling coupons. You could buy a lot with $1,000, you know! Like, a really cool stainless steel tool chest; or a Ford 2N tractor; or even a big tricked out name tag. So, you see? It really is worth the effort to collect Monopoly money and learn to spend it with a little strategy.
So, for the month of September, we ring in with:
* Total Number of Items for Free = 12
* Total Number of Items for $.01 – .50 = 18
* Total Amount of Rebates = 0
September Monopoly Money Savings = $53.88
Year-to-Date Monopoly Money Savings = $998.83
Cha-ching!
