Family Battle Book: Insurance, Estate Planning & Taxes
Posted By FarmerJ on June 22, 2009

Welcome to the Family Battle Book section ~ a source dedicated to exploring one method of organizing your family’s important documents. Once your Family Battle Book is completed, you will not only have peace of mind knowing all of your crucial information is in one location, you will be better equipped to focus on the task at hand when faced with a family emergency.
In this issue, we will focus on the final two sections in the Family Battle Book. I hope you have had an opportunity to gather, organize and compile your family’s important documents as we progressed through the series. If not, please try to dedicate some time each week to complete your Family Battle Book ~ it may very well be the best gift you ever give to your loved ones!
Before I close this column, I would like to take another moment to reiterate the importance of adapting your Battle Book to suit your family’s needs.
This month our focus will be on Insurance and Estate Planning & Taxes.
- Make a main index tab for each category (in bold brown).
- Make a sub-index divider for each section (in brown).
- Make a label for each document (in black) within each section that is applicable to your family. Note: the labels will be placed on the sheet protectors which contain those specific documents.

Oh, I so need this! I need to go back and read your other posts. It’s a bit overwhelming, but you have broken it down into doable portions! Thanks!
Thanks, Laurie. I agree ~ if you look the entire project in the face, it can seem a little daunting. But if you just take it in steps, eventually it will get finished. Mine is still a work in progress, but at least it’s portable now ~ and has made it into the storm shelter with me on more than one occasion! Heehee!
J, Hubby and I are using your plan! He thought it looked awesome!
Yay! That’s great! I hope you and your hubby enjoy building your Battle Book together ~ and I hope it brings you much peace of mind when it is completed.
