Our Daily Bread: Christmas Day ~ 2008
Posted By FarmerJ on December 23, 2008
Part of the joy of this special season is planning and cooking our Christmas Dinner. It also serves as a time to rejoice for the ample blessings we have ~ the fact that we are able to choose what we will place on the table…and that there will be more than plenty to plan for leftovers.
Here’s our blessed Christmas Dinner menu:
Appetizer: Crunchy Cheese Ball served with a variety of crackers
Entree: Honey Baked Ham
Originally our plan was to have Cranberry Glazed Ham. However, we were
blessed with a gift of the Honey Baked Ham by a generous neighbor whose
gesture is in appreciation of Darling Husbie’s acts of kindness. Since the
Honey Baked Ham is ready to put into the oven, and the Cured Ham is
still frozen, we’ll have the Honey Baked instead. Thank you, Lord, for the
abundant choices.
Side Dishes: Garlic Mashed Potatoes
Butternut Squash and Wild Rice Casserole
I’m still contemplating whether to replace one of these dishes for
homemade Baked Macaroni and Cheese ~ or perhaps even make
it in addition to. Thank you again, Lord, for the abundant choices.
Vegetable: Green Beans with Real Bacon Bits and Onion
Bread: Cranberry Cream Cheese Pull-Aparts
Dessert: Mexican Fruit Cake
We will be having birthday cake to celebrate the birth of Christ ~ the
real reason for this season. And, before any of you traditional
fruitcake nay-sayers wrinkle your noses ~ this cake is nothing like a
traditional fruitcake. The recipe will follow soonly.
So, now that you all know what will be served at the Prairie Farmstead ~ what feast items will you be serving on Christmas Day?!

Sounds Yummy J…..
Ours is featuring Turkey and Pork Tenderloin and too many sides lol. But DD has decided to do the cooking and I am thrilled.
Wishing you and your Family a Wonderful Christmas filled with the Love, Peace and Joy of God.
Hugs, GG
