Monopoly Money Madness: December

A coupon, to me, is like Monopoly money ~ except I get to use it in this real game called ‘Life.’  I’ve learned I can walk into a store, pick a product from the shelf, hand the cashier a piece of paper and walk out of the store with little or no money out of my pocket!  In fact, sometimes a coupon will actually earn me money, and then I get paid to carry the product out of the store.  How cool is that?!  Of course, the store won’t actually put money into my hand ~ the coupon overage just gets taken off the remaining balance of my purchases.

Well, I guess there is a slight exception to that.  Walgreens does actually put money into my hand ~ it’s just either in the form of more Monopoly money I can then use to purchase any item in the store I wish to; or sometimes it’s a gift card, which in that case, they will add an additional 10% to the specified Monopoly money amount.  So, it’s as if I get to ‘recycle’ my Monopoly money at Walgreens ~ and we’re all about being ‘green’, right?!  Especially when it comes to greenbacks!

So, join me each month as I track ~ just for fun ~ the products that I am able to get for less than $.50 using my Monopoly money.  Jump in with any great savings you’ve been able to get, too!

  2. I am really making a commitment to learning the joys of couponing and rebates this year. I use them, but not as effectively as I can. I am quite impressed “J” with your December Savings . And your yearly total is close to a thousand dollars!
    Awesome.
