A Year Gone By…

2013 2014

I can hardly believe it to be true, and I honestly don’t know how it happened, but an entire year has passed since we last gathered here.  I’d like to say the time passed so quickly because I was busy crossing every item off my to-do-list.  But, as you can see, that’s just not the case.

Your eyes are not deceiving you ~ that clearly states “Things I need to accomplish in 2013…”  Not so good, right?  But, but, but, I had…distractions!  Things like moving the oldest son and his family back home to Arizona, playing Grandma to our Boodle, helping coach a high school mountain bike team, and an unexpected trip to Montana.

I did manage to cross a few {only 6?!} items off my list.  Does that redeem me from being a complete slacker?

I installed the tile backsplash in the kitchen.  Darling Husbie was my tile cutter, so the process went fairly quickly.  As quick as tile installation projects can go, I suppose.

Around here, projects beget projects.  Always.  So, the installation of new appliances and a new breakfast bar and countertops created the need to refinish the kitchen cabinets and update the hardware.  I managed to complete that task last July while Husbie was in Pennsylvania.  More on the cabinet project later.  {You can see more of the backsplash in this photo.}

Husbie's Photo Quilt 1

I finished exactly one of the quilts I started back in 2010; the quilt to commemorate Darling Husbie’s Army aviation career.  It’s probably cheating that I didn’t actually finish this quilt until April of this year, isn’t it?

Let’s see…what else is crossed off?

Learn to better ride Priscilla, the Yamaha TT-R125 Husbie bought me for my birthday.  Yeah…not so much.  Stay tuned for the hysterical story of my short-lived motorcycle riding adventures.  {Who rides motorcycles in their flip flops, anyway?}  Priscilla now lives with another family.

Take Darling Husbie for the ride of his life.  Nope.  This isn’t going to happen, either.  Every time I tried to schedule this little adventure, something else came up.  Every single time for over a year.  I finally broke down and told Husbie of my plan, and we decided it’s probably not in our cards to do it.  I’ve concluded, instead, that Husbie takes me for the ride of my life every time we mountain bike together.

And, last but by far not the least daunting task, was the unpacking from our June, 2012 move back home.  But, I already wrote about that.  Enough said.

So, here we are halfway through 2014.  I reckon I’d better get my to-do list underway.  Perhaps I should consider switching to a fiscal year.

Well, at any rate, that is all.

  1. Im glad you are doing this again

    • Thank you. I am going to try to keep it current, as I really do enjoy writing. It seems as though I’ve had writer’s block for quite a while. :-(
